Gas prices in Ontario, New Brunswick, Manitoba and Saskatchewan have gone way up thanks to Trudeau’s carbon tax.
While in Ontario prices have gone up by 5 cents, next year the cost will increase by 6.6 cents, and then 8.8 cents in 2021, followed by 11.1 cents per litre in April 2022.
Conservative Leader Andrew Scheer has called the move a “tax grab” and vowed to scrap the carbon tax if elected in October.
Saskatchewan Premier Scott Moe said it was ironic that the carbon tax began on April 1, because of April Fools.
“It’s some type of irony that the carbon tax comes in on April Fool’s,” Moe told 650 CKOM’s John Gormley.
“About half of the population of the nation of Canada is not on board with this now,” Moe said. “They’ve (the Liberal government) chosen to move forward with it so they’ll be accountable for that.”
Ontario Premier Doug Ford has been a very vocal critic of the carbon tax and vowed to “keep fighting to stop this terrible tax with every tool at our disposal.”
