A letter from 2013 purports to show Jawed Anwar, the leader of the Islamic Party of Ontario urging Kathleen Wynne to become heterosexual.
In the letter, published on As-Seerah, an Islamist website Anwar regularly writes on, he begins the letter by congratulating Premier Wynne on her electoral success.
The letter was written well before Jawed Anwar had reserved the name for the “Islamic Party of Ontario” with Elections Ontario in 2018.
Anwar then proceeds to explain his gripes with homosexuality.
“The gay lifestyle doesn’t further the species, and it leads to irresponsible citizenry,” he says early on in the letter.
To justify his position, Anwar continuously refers to the Qur’an and scriptures that reference homosexuality.
“Ms Kathleen Wynne! I pray for you for the change of heart and soul. If you change yourself, you will find me your biggest supporter, a full-time volunteer without asking any worldly reward in return. I am not looking for any job in your constituency and Queens Park office as are most of your “Muslim” supporters,” says Anwar in the letter.
Elsewhere in the publication, Mr. Anwar had called Toronto Sun columnist Tarek Fatah an “enemy of Islam” for his positions regarding the party.
Fatah claimed the accusation was a direct threat on his person.
