A Facebook post criticizing Justin Trudeau’s comments about construction workers went viral on Monday.
The post was by Sarah Michel, a waitress at Crown & Anchor Pub in Grand Prairie, Alberta.
While at the G20 summit in Argentina, Prime Minister Trudeau spoke of the “social impacts” of bringing “mostly male construction workers” to rural areas.
In her biting criticism of Trudeau’s views, Michel said: “Shame on you for demonizing these men AND women who take time away from their families to provide for them.”
Justin Trudeau’s comments have landed him in political hot water and are being perceived as degrading to blue-collar workers.
Opposition leader, Andrew Scheer took to social media, saying “The person who is a threat to rural Canada is Justin Trudeau himself,” after sharing a video of Lethbridge MP, Rachael Harder addressing the Prime Minister’s comments.
Well said @RachaelHarderMP. The person who is a threat to rural Canada is Justin Trudeau himself, not the workers who build communities everywhere. pic.twitter.com/OyqcYz4Nr2
