A man from Louisiana has been sentenced to five years in prison for kidnapping a woman and bringing her into a house that was filled with traps, hidden cameras, and other features that would make the bravest of people afraid, according to the Winnipeg Sun.
Police say that Mario Perez Roque and another man were armed and kidnapped a woman who objected to Perez’s romantic actions. In 2015, she was taken into a home in New Orleans where there was a hole in the bedroom floor that resembled a grave, and hidden cameras watched over the rooms. Although being blindfolded and heavily restrained, she was fortunately able to escape.
Perez, who is 59 years old, pleaded guilty Monday to second-degree kidnapping and conspiracy. The woman claimed to have been unable to properly look at the other kidnapper.
