The new Ghostbusters film is going to be shot in Calgary according to the president of film workers’ union IATSE 212.
Global News reports that Damian Petti confirmed that Sony had notified the union about its plans to shoot the film in Calgary in 2019.
The film will not be a follow-up to the heavily disliked 2016 all-female reboot and instead will be a continuation of the 1984 original and its 1989 sequel.
2019 will mark the 35th anniversary of the original Ghostbusters film which starred Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson and Harold Ramis.
It’s unknown whether any of the returning cast will will be in the new film and Ramis passed away in 2014.
The original Ghostbusters has received some unlikely political praise in recent years, with some calling it “the most libertarian blockbuster of all all time” with how it portrays the government and business owners.
