Cheaters sometimes win. But a man lost big when trying to cheat at lottery.
A debt-ridden Scottish man stole over $2,500 worth of lottery scratch tickets from the store where he worked, and didn’t win anything.
28-year-old Andrew Lochrie admitted to stealing the lottery tickets over the course of two months. Hping to use his winnings to pay off mounting debt.
Lochrie was ordered to pay back the value in tickets he stole after pleading guilty in court this week. In addition, he needs to complete 200 hours worth of community service within a nine month window.
The man’s lawyer said “He is filled with shame and regret. This was an act of desperation at a desperate time.”
The moral of the story: if you’re in debt, don’t steal lottery tickets or do anything criminal to pay it off.
It won’t work and you’ll get caught.
