A Canadian man in his early 20s, whose name has been not identified, changed his gender on his government ID to receive lower car insurance costs.
The man, who is from the province of Alberta, proclaimed stated, “I have taken advantage of a loophole”.
It is well known that young men face rising insurance costs in comparison to their female counterparts. This can largely be attributed to reckless driving, hours spent within a vehicle, and more.
Considering Alberta’s moderately relaxed policies on gender, the man was able to convince the provincial government with the correct paperwork, to ultimately change his legal gender identity.
At present time, in conjunction with his insurance company, the man now receives lower car insurance payments.
In certain countries across the globe, such as in the EU, insurance companies can longer decipher payments based on gender identity alone.
It is unknown at the current time, how many Canadians have been able to trick the Canadian government to ultimately receive lower costs on their insurance, but it is likely that many others have also been successful.
