A hiker from Edmonton was rescued from Pinto Lake after he wrote a massive SOS in the snow.
As CTV reports, Rocky Mountain House RCMP were called when a remote forestry camera captured the message.
RCMP K Division Air Services and a search team were deployed to the area to help find the hiker and his dog.
The man hiked in from Highway 11 near Cline River on a camping trip and was supposed to return to Edmonton on March 17, but by the next day he hadn’t returned and police were called.
He told police that when he ran out of “adequate resources” and was unable to return to his vehicle, he decided to create the SOS on Pinto Lake.
Both the man and his dog were found in good health and were airlifted to the trailhead staging area.
This was pretty smart-thinking by the hiker. What do you think?
