If you had to use the item closest to you in order to fight off a robber, how would you do? A convenience store cashier in Mississauga managed to make
CP24 reports that officers were called to a shop at Hurontario and John streets on Saturday after an attempted robbery.
Police say a cashier at the store told officers a suspect entered the store and approached the cash register. A quick-thinking employee grabbed one of the bananas on display and struck the suspect with it.
The suspect fled on foot and the employee was uninjured, but was “a little shaken up”.
Retail employees are urged by police to not resist during robberies.
The only thing that would have made this story better is if the suspect slipped on a banana peel. Oh well. Maybe next time?
