RCMP in Nanaimo, BC say they arrested a man wanted for murder in Toronto when they pulled him over for riding a bicycle without a helmet.
According to the Toronto Sun, officers checked the serial number on the bicycle, saw it had been reportedly stolen and then arrested the man for being in possession of stolen property.
When police asked the man to identify himself, he gave several different names before eventually producing what they believed was a fake driver’s license from Ontario.
Finally, police confirmed the man’s identity to be 19-year-old Kyle Dias. He had a Canada-wide warrant for his arrest.
Dias is scheduled to return to Toronto Wednesday to face a second-degree murder charge in the February 13 shooting of 27-year-old Tesfa Welsh-Hope.
