The price of gas is said to be going down five cents overnight Tuesday to an average price of $1.24 per litre for most GTA gas stations, according to CTV news.
The reason for the drop is almost entirely due to the removal of the cap and trade tax(with HST) which the Ford government recently scrapped.
Press release from Ontario PC’s: “Gas prices down today!” and “Fill up the tanks!” Party claims 5-cent drop in gas prices is “in large part” to “Premier Doug Ford and the Government for the People’s cancellation of the cap-and-trade carbon tax.”

Last week, refiners began to stop charging 4.6 cents per litre for the cap and trade tax (with HST) and that dropped the price of diesel 6.7 cents a litre.
The remaining .4 cents of savings comes from the change to winter season pricing for fuel.
